Galé

Galé and the Galé beaches

Galé is a coastal area in the parish of Guia, west of Albufeira, with hotels, restaurants and services behind a line of cliff beaches.

The beaches have golden sand, steep cliffs and rock outcrops, and sailing and motor yachts anchor off them in summer. A clifftop trail links them from west to east.

Praia da Galé: the western beach, where the cliffs begin.
Praia de São Lourenço: small cove below the cliffs.
Praia de Manuel Lourenço: beach below the cliffs, sheltered by rocks.
Praia da Balbina: small beach among rocks.
Praia do Evaristo: cove with clear water.
Praia do Castelo: beach framed by rock formations.
Praia da Coelha: small beach between cliffs.
Praia de Maré das Porcas, Praia das Salamitras, Praia da Ponta Grande and Praia dos Piratas: small coves along the cliff trail.

These small beaches are sheltered from the wind by rocks, have clear water and are quieter than the beaches of the city.
