Vilamoura

Vilamoura is a resort in the parish of Quarteira, in the municipality of Loulé, known for its outdoor lifestyle, golf and sailing. It grew as a planned resort from the 1970s, when tourism became the base of the Algarve economy.

The Marina de Vilamoura, opened in 1974 as the first marina in Portugal, sits between the ocean and palm-lined gardens at the centre of the resort.
