Home Buying Taxes in Portugal: 2026 IMT and Stamp Duty Calculator
Use this calculator to estimate the purchase taxes you will pay when you buy a home in Portugal under the 2026 rules.
- Enter the asking price,
- choose where the property is (mainland Portugal or Madeira and the Azores),
- say whether you are a resident or a non-resident buyer, and
- select how you will use the home.
The calculator shows the IMT (property transfer tax), the stamp duty and the total you need to add to the purchase price. Buyers aged 35 or younger who buy their first permanent home can tick the youth exemption to see how much they save. You can share the result with a link or print it to take to your bank, lawyer or notary.
