The Iberian Wolf Recovery Centre is a sanctuary for wolves taken from traps and captivity, in the parish of Gradil in Mafra, on about 17 hectares of enclosed woodland. It opened in 1987 to give a home to animals that cannot return to the wild, and it has cared for dozens of wolves since then.
The wolves live in large fenced areas, and visits are made on foot along the fences with a guide.
