Marina de Vilamoura lies at Vilamoura in the municipality of Loulé, on the central Algarve coast west of Quarteira. It is the largest marina in Portugal by berth count and the entrance is marked by a lit approach beacon on the marina control tower. The marina opened in 1974 and sits inside a resort development holding hotels, golf courses and a commercial area.
