Marina de Portimão lies in the mouth of the Arade estuary, between Praia da Rocha and Ferragudo, inside the forts of Santa Catarina and São João do Arade. The entrance faces south and is about 250 metres wide, which makes it the widest marina entrance in Portugal. The marina takes boats up to fifty metres long drawing up to four metres and holds a 5 Gold Anchor rating from The Yacht Harbour Association.
