Casa das Histórias Paula Rego

Casa das Histórias Paula Rego is a museum in Cascais dedicated to the work of the painter Paula Rego, opened in September 2009. The architect Eduardo Souto de Moura, chosen by the artist, designed the building, which is recognised by its two pyramid-shaped towers and its red-pigmented concrete.

The museum is part of the Bairro dos Museus, the museum quarter of Cascais.

What to see at Casa das Histórias Paula Rego

Collection: about 620 works of painting, drawing and printmaking by Paula Rego, with works by her husband, the artist Victor Willing. The collection is shown in rotating exhibitions.
Building: four wings of connected rooms around a taller central room for temporary exhibitions, with 750 m² of exhibition space.
Auditorium, shop and café: the museum has a 200-seat auditorium, a shop and a café with a terrace on the garden.

2006: Paula Rego chooses Cascais for a museum of her work.
