The Portas do Sol Garden is a public garden inside the walls of the former castle of Santarém, on the edge of the plateau where the city stands above the Tagus. From its walls the view reaches the river, the Dom Luís I Bridge and the flat farmland of the Tagus floodplain.
The garden is laid out on the site of the castle, of which parts of the walls remain.

What to see at the Portas do Sol Garden
- Viewpoint: the walls look over the Tagus, the Dom Luís I Bridge, the Ribeira de Santarém below and the plains on the opposite bank.
- Castle walls: sections of the walls of the old castle, which enclose the garden.
- Garden: paths, trees and benches on the top of the plateau.
Visiting the Portas do Sol Garden
- Location: the garden is at the edge of the historic centre, a short walk from the Church of Graça and the Church of Marvila.
- Best time: the view over the Tagus plain is clearest in the late afternoon.
